This winter light trail “Winter Light Garden. Trejdeviņi” invites you to enter a tale of wonders.
The fifth light trail 'Winter Light Garden' will happen on December 2023 and January 2024 at the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia. This time, the creative team of the trail and light artists from Latvia will invite visitors on an unusual journey through three nines of wonder worlds - Latvian dainas (folk songs), legends, beliefs, and fairy tales, which are intertwined into one great fairy-tale journey, will serve as inspiration for the light installations, allowing to experience the miracle of the Solstice.
The trail 'Winter Light Garden. Trejdeviņi.' will take everyone - both young and old - on a journey through a world of wonders - this time we will go underground, fight monsters, solve riddles, listen to bees singing at Solstice, plant a magic bean and see a world of magic in a colorful walk.
'The new home of the 'Winter Light Garden' - Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia is a unique place for creating light stories - its authentic, ethnographic, and unurbanized environment allows artists to express themselves, gives the opportunity for unprecedented light experiments and therefore this time the light trail will have both artistic and technological surprises,' says Mārcis Gulbis, the author and organizer of the light trail.
'Winter Light Garden' at the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia will welcome guests from December 15th 2023, every evening (except December 24th and 31st) from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM (last entry at 9:00 PM).’
The trail is not allowed to be visited with animals. A Solstice café will operate on the walking trail, and guided tours will be available. For the first time in the trail 'Winter Light Garden. Trejdeviņi', there will also be an opportunity to organize a collective Solstice celebration with a special Solstice menu. Visitors are encouraged to bring a good mood and wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions.
Entrance fees for the Winter Light Garden are set dynamically - the first tickets for each visiting time are cheaper. Each ticket has a designated arrival time to allow visitors to fully enjoy the light walk.
The first ticket price in pre-sale - for adults from 12 €, for children - from 6 €. Infants in strollers or sleds enter free of charge. The event producer - event operator 'UNTITLED originals'. The walk 'Winter Light Garden. Three Nines.' is included in the project 'Light Stories' (www.gaismasstasti.lv).
