From March 31 till April 2, 2017, from 10.00 to 16.00 in Latvian Ethnographic open air museum everybody can meet craftsmen and learn traditional Latvian crafts: baskets’ making, candles’ pouring, knitting, weaving, wooden spoons ’making and other. Maybe you were dreaming for long time about learning of some special craft. Now it is possible.

Meet your craftsman - is a tradition in Latvia that has been held since 2009. It's a project where everyone can find out more about crafts and craftsmen. People working with many kinds of materials are organizing workshops, individual activities, lectures, exhibitions etc. The project is organized by Latvian National Culture Centre” and traditionally takes place in the same time as the project “European Craft Day”. From March 31 till April 2, 2017, in 167 locations in Latvia you can find out more about crafts

Most of workshops in the Museum will take place in Priede tavern where everybody can take part as an observer, actively learn craftsmen’s works, or simply speak with participants. There you can see, how to make wooden spoons, baskets, candles, clay whistles, how to knit and weave. There you can also see and participate in the process of baking of traditional Latvian bread in an ancient oven.  

Taking a little walk in the territory of the Museum, in Kurzeme homestead you will find out how to make straw decorations, or you can participate in playing old field games. You can also come in Smithy, and look on blacksmith in working process.
