By launching a new cycle of educational lessons, the Ethnographical open-air museum of Latvia invites everyone interested to a lecture at the Priede wayside pub with the researcher Dr. hist. Mārīte Jakovļeva and historian Mag. hist. Agris Dzenis about farmers's lifes and family research using available written sources.

At 11.00 the lecture of Mārīte Jakovļeva "Farmer's life in the light of sources written during the era of the duchy of Courland and Semigallia" will reveal, which history sources talk about farmers and what can be known from them about farmer's life in the duchy of Courland and Semigallia.  What was the attitude towards serfdom and what were the possibilities of migration during the 17th and 18th centuries. We'll also look at some particullar farmer's life stories .

At 12.30 the lecture of Agris Dzenis "Possibilities of family research and the research of daily lifes in the documents of Latvian State Historical Archive" will look at the most important groups of written sources, from whoom it's possible to gain farmer's biographical information  and information about farmsteads in all the Latvian territory from the 17th to 19th centuries.: metrics of different denominations, inventories of ste and private manors cesus etc. Demonstrations of written and cartographical material will be presented.

The number of participants is limited, application is possible at https://ej.uz/LEBM_25_marts till March 24th. Lectures will be in Latvian.

It is possible to attend the class in person by purchasing an entrance ticket to the museum according to the price list.
The event will be photographed and filmed. The resulting photos and videos can be used to reflect and promote the museum's work.
The class cycle is implemented with the support of the State Culture Capital Foundation.
