Celebration of the Day of Martini 06.11.201612:00 — 16:00

Each year, celebrating Mārtiņi (Day of Martini) many people come together in the museum dressed up and wearing masks, singing and dancing in order to bring luck, prosperity and harmony to every farmstead. It is cold outside, but Mārtiņbērni are playful and active to scare away ghosts and other evil creatures. Mārtiņi marks the end of autumn and the beginning of winter in the Latvian calendar. At this time all rural works should be finished.

Along with Mārtiņi, the masker time begins that continues throughout the winter until Meteņi.
